Enjoying the Rain
(Written by Leo “Papa Bear” Antazo)
I’m glad it’s raining. I’ve always enjoyed taking baths in the rain while running up and down the streets of our old house. I was ten years old and my mum would be yelling, telling me to get inside.
Nothing much has changed in the last 30 years, I think, as I’m still enjoying the rain.
So far, I’ve gotten myself in trouble, failed at what my dad wanted me to be, failed my wife and our three little children, failed my friends, and even failed as myself. That’s why I’m here. Fully clothed and still enjoying the rain.
I think about the times I’ve rushed head first into things and situations that don’t make any sense. In the end, I suffer for it. Now, I’m still enjoying the rain.
I look upward and let drops wash away my fear as they do the saltiness gathering in both my eyes. I feel invigorated still, as one would when the Baptist would lower his followers in water and be cleansed anew.
I’m always glad when it rains. The sun will be up in a few. Looking forward to the light show that follows.
